From 1945 to 2006, the Tucson Open was a regular game on the PGA Tour for 60 years, often held at the Catalina Stadium that opened in 1961. Tucson hosted the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in nearby Marana for eight years, from 2007 to 2014.

The Cologuard Classic Champions Tour will start from 20 to 22 March 2026 and will take place at La Paloma Country Club. It features a 78-player field playing for prize money: 2,200,000 US dollars. The winner’s share is $255,000 and 255 Charles Schwab Cup points. The three-day event includes a no-cut format (Friday-Sunday), where players participate in pro-am competitions on Wednesday and Thursday. Due to the pandemic, Tucson’s PGA Tour Champions and Cologuard Classic announced to decrease in the audience in 2021.
