Starting from the 2022 season, DP World will become the new title sponsor of the major men's golf tournaments in the European Tour group.
The total prize money of the New Look Tour will exceed the US$200 million mark for the first time, and the new minimum prize money for all tournaments approved separately by the DP World Tour is US$2 million.
In 2022, the tour will host at least 47 competitions in 27 different countries, including new events in the United Arab Emirates, Japan, South Africa, and Belgium. The extended Rolex Series will comprise five events: Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic, Genesis Scottish Open, BMW PGA Championship, and the season finale DP World Tour Championship.
Keith Pelley, CEO of European Tour Group, said: "The DP World Tour will be launched in 2022, which coincides with our 50th anniversary. It will mark the beginning of a new era in world golf, it will benefit all participants all our players, caddies, fans, and partners — and make significant contributions to the wider community.
"Thanks to this significant deal, our entire ecosystem of the tour will be improved, which is of vital importance to us and DP World, who have supported our tour and golf in general from grassroots to elite professionals. Therefore, the DP World Tour is a natural development of our ten-year partnership, whereby the presence of the world in our new title better reflects our global reach.
DP World, a multinational logistics company headquartered in Dubai, became the official partner of the European Tour in 2015, and now it is a partner of the European Tour, which will kick-off in 2022 season with Johannesburg Open in South Africa from 22-25 November 2021.
