Louis Oosthuizen Withdrew from 2022 Golf Masters Tournament

Louis Oosthuizen has pulled out from the 2022 Master tournament on Friday morning ahead of his scheduled tee time. He lost the Masters playoffs to Bubba Watson in 2012.

2010 Champion Golfer of the Year Oosthuizen grabbed his back after teeing off on the third hole of the first round on Thursday after winning the Open Championship at St Andrew's. He scored 76 points in four rounds; he had two double bogeys, three bogeys, and three birdies.

Tiger Woods and Joaquin Niemann were dismissed off two balls at 1:41 pm, with Oosthuizen’s withdrawal. Woods is currently 1 under, and Niemann is three under.

An official statement issued by the Masters stated that Oosthuizen has retired due to injury no details provided yet. Last year, world number 14 Oosthuizen, 39, was sidelined for two months, from November after suffering back and neck injuries and withdrew from the RSM Classic.

His best finish in five matches since returning to this year's World Championship Phoenix Open is a tie for 14th. He last finished in the top 10 at the 2021 3M Open in July last year, and he finished third at the British Open a week earlier. He also finished second in the US. Open, and finished second place at the PGA Championship last year.
