George Wong, Mercuries Group chairman, created the Mercuries Taiwan Masters. In 2018, the prize money was raised from US$50,000 to US$850,000. The tournament prize increased from $50,000 to $900,000 in 2019.

This year's tournament has a record-breaking US$950,000 in prize money, making it the wealthiest professional men's golf tournament in the country. The winner will get a prize of US$190,000.
